Sports Premium

At West Hill Primary School, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.

For the academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15, the Government made available to all Primary Schools a sum of money to allow them to continue to develop sports provision within school and to help schools increase pupil participation in sporting activity. Schools had to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they had the freedom to choose how they did this. West Hill Primary School received £8,900 during the academic year 2013/14 and £8,656 in 2014-2015. A similar amount will be received in two tranches during 2015-2016.

Our Primary School Sport’s Funding enables us to continue and extend our provision through employing additional sports professionals, entering into more competitive sports competitions and training our staff to deliver in-house quality PE sessions. As a result, we aim to continue to raise the level of physical activity across all year groups.

At the end of each academic year we report on the impact that the funding has had at West Hill and set out our plans for the following year.
